FATTY ACIDS IN ANIMAL FEED

The added value of fatty acids in animal feed is well described and backed by extensive scientific research. Fatty acids in animal feed is a common prevention strategy for promoting animal health and enhancing animal performance. Different types of fatty acids offer a great variety of molecular features and functions. Combining these features and functions will lead to a great synergistic potential. However, to maximise the symbiosis, premium product Technology is key. And this is exactly where EcoFeed kicks in. We have a passion for engineering your fatty acids! All you need to do is to select the right fatty acids for your animal health and animal nutrition targets.

Don’t know yet what fatty acid specification you want to mix & match? This page serves you with an overview about the features and functions for the different groups of fatty acids. For further inspiration, you might also want to check our ready-to-market concepts via this link.

MONOGLYCERIDES

Monoglycerides are the next generation fatty acids. They are formed by bounding SCFAs and MCFAs to a glycerol via an esterification process. The covalent bond between the acid and glycerol molecule actives the fatty acid, independent of pH.

The product features for monoglycerides are comparable as for SCFAs and MCFAs. However, the difference is in the product Technology. And this is exactly where EcoFeed kicks in. We master the molecular esterification process. With EcoFeed you don’t pay for the brand, but you invest in the product Technology. Our Monoglycerides are characterised by high concentrations of active ingredients, neutral odour, tasteless, and a very stable and free flowing product that makes it very easy to handle into every type of animal feed.

The combination of fatty acids from different chain lengths and in different forms will inhibit the growth of a wide range of pathogens. Combining Monoglycerides, SCFAs and MCFAs will result in a release throughout the whole digestive tract to enhance animal health and animal performance.

MONOGLYCERIDES FEATURES & FUNCTIONS

MEDIUM CHAIN FATTY ACIDS (MCFA)

Medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) are defined as saturated free fatty acids with C6 to C12 hydrocarbon chains. MCFAs are of particular interest because of their reported antimicrobial and antiviral activity.

EcoFeed can develop your preferred feed additive solution to a final product that will be very easy to handle, excellent free flowability, very stable, and based on the highest concentration of active ingredients.

MCFAs inhibit and reduce the risk for a wide range of pathogens, including gram-positive, enveloped viruses, algae, fungi, and protozoa. Different types of MCFAs inhibit a different spectrum of pathogens with varying potencies. Appropriate selection is required for a targeted approach. And combining MCFAs with SCFAs, and monoglycerides exhibits an even greater potency. However, when matching your feed additive solution, it’s crucial to understand the different physical product features. EcoFeed can advise you during the selection process. We are your product Technology partner.

SHORT CHAIN FATTY ACIDS (SCFA)

Short chain fatty acids are defined as saturated fatty acids with C1 to C6 hydrocarbon chains. The group includes formic, acetic, propionic, lactic, isobutyric, butyric, isovaleric and valeric acid.

The product functionality of SCFAs and its salts is well described in the scientific literature. However, there can be a great variety in the physical product features when it comes to handling, equipment compatibility, flowability, stability, palatability, etc. We know how molecular changes can make a powerful difference. That is what makes us the fatty acid engineers and a trusted Technology partner. EcoFeed can mix the right fatty acid composition to match your feed additive solution in liquid and powder form. With EcoFeed you don’t pay for the brand, but invest in the Technology!
